Central Arizona College

Health Careers – Health Information Management

HIT AAS (71 credit hours)

Central Arizona College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology. The program is accredited by CAHIIM for AHIMA and graduates are eligible to sit for the RHIT exam. The majority of classes (all of the Major Course Components) are online by semester.

Coding and Reimbursement Certificate (34 credit hours)

Certificate of completion in medical coding and reimbursement specialty has been offered by Central Arizona College since 1996, preparing students for careers in medical coding and billing. Graduates are eligible for certification through AHIMA (coding credential), AAPC (coding credential, or AMBA (Certified medical reimbursement specialist) as a graduate of a medical coding and billing program.

Credits at Central Arizona College are $72 per credit hour (times the number required by your program of study) plus books. Our programs were developed under a Community Based Jobs Training Grant Program from the federal government. Scholarships and opportunities are available. Phoenix College

Health Information Technology

Phoenix College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology. Their program is accredited by AHIMA, and graduates are eligible to sit for the RHIT exam.

Approximate cost of the program - $4000 — 4,500

Medical Billing Certificate

Available since 1998, Phoenix College offers a 21.5 credit course offering a certificate in medical billing.

Approximate cost of the program - $1400 — 1500

Medical Coding — Physician based Certificate

This new certificate program offers individuals who wish to code in a physician office setting to earn a certificate with 24.5 — 25 credits.

Approximate cost of the program - $1500 — 1600
